News >> Tech Group WOMEN'S TECH GROUP PICKS UP MOMENTUM -- The recently formed Michigan Council of Women in Technology has launched its Web site, provided five scholarships and announced plans for its next event.

The council launched in April with one goal: Give professional women in Michigan a valuable network of services and programs.

The group is made up of female executives in information technology, manufacturing technology, professional services and entrepreneurial organizations at all levels of career growth and is marketed to those producing, using and selling technology.

In August the council launched its site, which features news and events involving the group, information on scholarships, membership information and background on the leaders and the organization in general.

Also, the council said in a release, in July it awarded five scholarships of $150 each to area girls to attend the University of Michigan-Flint’s Tech Camp. The one-week camp for girls in grades 3-8 provides exposure to new technology and applies the technology to other subjects, such as math, science and social studies.

The Michigan Council of Women in Technology plans to hold its next event Oct. 3. The event, sponsored by Delphi Corp., is called "Technology in the Fast Lane: Where it is, where it’s going and how to keep up." It is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. at the Michigan State University Management Education Center in Troy.
